Community Dye Garden

TALK DIRT TO ME: Saturday 13th June 10-11.30 BOOK HERE - we will commence our monthly sessions communing over craft, plants and creativity. Weather permitting we meet on the bench outside my studio (34 St saviours yard, at the back of the church, you can’t miss me I’m the spiky one) and if it’s raining we can huddle under the flyover. Arrive early and grab a cuppa from Merchants Hatch. I’ll be talking about the St Saviours Yard community dye garden, my creative practice and I’ll have some stitchy stuff on hand too. Maybe I’ll do a reading from a book. Maybe we’ll take some time to write. Also I want to hear from you, what are you making and thinking, what’s brought you joy, what do you want more/less of in your life? Mostly we’ll just see where things take us in the time we have together. Please bring kids (including boys up to age 14) if you cannot get childcare.
If you’re attending a Talk Dirt To Me session and are able to make a donation to help maintain the plot and provide materials for monthly gatherings please donate HERE.
Students, unemployed and low income - please come along there is no need to make a donation.
Those in full-time employment above minimum wage if you’re able to make a donation of £5 I appreciate your support.
Our second session on Saturday 11th July is available to book now HERE.

Something exciting this way grows…I’ve been given permission to take on the strip of land that runs between St Saviours Yard and St Saviours church to use as a community dye garden. I’m literally over the moon as I’m a flat dweller and bonkers gardener who’s been without a garden for many a long year.
I’ll be working with any other yarders who may wish to get involved on maintenance and planting. There are already a plethora of wild plants on the plot to play with and I’ll be introducing a selection of dye plants alongside native wildflowers and edibles with a focus on pollinating plants for the local wildlife.
The long term aims of utilising this plot alongside developing my own research and practice includes starting a monthly drop in stitch and dye gardening group through the warmer months. These sessions will be open to women and gender non-conforming artists and folks who would like some quiet space for tending to the land and calming the mind and heart with stitch.
If you’re interested in finding out more about getting involved with the garden, stitch/dye groups or workshops please drop me a line at Olivia.jeffries@hotmail.com or DM through insta @ojjeffries.
